Our Raptor emblem depicts the ʻio, or Hawaiian hawk, a symbol of royalty in Hawaiian culture, displayed with its wings raised high like those of a phoenix rising from its ashes, surmounted by the crown and bearing the coat of arms, unmodified from its original 1845 design. Beneath it on a ribbon inscribed with our name hangs an insignia representing the royal orders originally granted by the Monarchy.
Refined down to something suitable for an enamel pin this size, and forgoing the ribbon, we managed to keep all the details nice and crisp. The use of gold with black and translucent enamels creates a striking combination.
