Since the early 1900s, Hawaiian coat of arms insignia was prized by former subjects of the Kingdom. This particular style was produced by some of the islands’ best silversmiths, modeled after King Kalakaua’s Akahi Dala from 1883. They came in many sizes and color variations, including black, which is considered to hold special significance.
